Fundraising campaign for China landslide victims

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association (VCFA) on September 7 launched a campaign for donations to help landslide victims in China’s northwest Gansu province.

VCFA Secretary General Nguyen Van My said the campaign, a vivid symbol of the traditional Vietnamese-Chinese friendship, aims to ease some of the difficulties faced by people in Gansu province.

The deadly landslide that occurred in Zhouqu county, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, in Gansu province on August 7, 2010 took the lives of 1,239 people and buried many houses, he said.

The campaign raised VND 972 million and US$2,000 on the first day.

Donations can be sent to the VCFA at 105A Quan Thanh Street, Da Dinh district, Hanoi.(VNA)
