A representative from the MRB reported that the unit has been allocated a capital plan worth over 2,212 billion VND for 2025. In the first five months of 2025, total disbursement for projects reached 21.5%.
Regarding the Nhon-Ha Noi railway line project, the elevated section has been operational since August 2025, ensuring safety. The underground section is 48.72% complete, and the contractor has committed to finishing both tunnels by December 2025.
For the Nam Thang Long-Tran Hung Dao Railway project, the Ha Noi Urban Railway Management Board has re-engaged with Japanese consultants since February 2025 to complete the revised project documents, which are expected to be submitted to the city for approval in July 2025.
Regarding Line No. 5 (Van Cao-Ngoc Khanh-Lang-Hoa Lac), the preparation phase includes 10 packages, with one contract signed. The remaining nine consultancy contracts are finalising procedures for signing.
In his directives during the meeting, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh acknowledged the progress made so far. Regarding upcoming tasks, the Chairman assigned related units to ensure the synchronisation of all railway lines being implemented. The Department of Construction is tasked with assigning clear responsibilities between the project management board and relevant agencies, calculating all work carefully, including increasing the participation of Vietnamese contractors and localising technology and equipment in line with the policies of the Party, state, and city.
The chairman also agreed with the report and proposal from MRB regarding the depot at Xuan Dinh, which is set to begin construction in October 2025, with the entire line to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2026 for Phase 1 of the construction of Urban Railway Line No. 2 (Nam Thang Long-Tran Hung Dao section).
For the Ha Noi Urban Railway Line No. 5 project, the chairman requested MRB to review and accelerate progress, ensuring the groundbreaking of the entire line in 2025.
According to the study, Urban Railway Line No. 5 has a total length of 38.43 kilometres. The project runs through the districts of Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai, and Thach That. The line will operate around 25-40 trains, with a designed speed of 120 kilometres per hour, and 90 kilometres per hour for the underground sections, with a waiting time of approximately 3.3 minutes.
