Health insurance covers 91.1% of Vietnamese population

As of November 2022, an estimated 91.1% of the Vietnamese population are covered by health insurance, according to the Vietnam Social Security (VSS).

This figure is equivalent to 90.19 million people, up 1.36 million (1.53%) from last year, as reported by the VSS at a conference on December 7.

The figure is approaching the full-year target of 92% of the population.

The number of people covered by social insurance was estimated at 17.266 million, up 4.35% from last year and equivalent to 90% of the sector’s target for 2022.

Total revenue from social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance reached 382.7 trillion VND (16 billion USD), equivalent to 88.74% of the full-year target.

In the past 11 months, the VSS has worked closely with the relevant ministries and sectors to formulate and revise laws and documents concerning the implementation of social and health insurance policies.

The VSS has also been making efforts to reform administrative procedures and adopt digital transformation in its operations.

In the next year, the VSS will continue working to simplify administrative procedures to make them more convenient for enterprises and the people.
