The respect-paying service for the former official will be organised from 7 am on September 18 at the National Funeral Hall, No.5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi. The burial service will take place at 5:15 pm on the same day at Thien Duc Cemetery in Phu Ninh District, Phu Tho Province.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh was born on May 15, 1957, in Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province and resided in Thuy Phuong Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi.
He passed away on September 14 at the age of 66 after suffering from serious illness despite the special care and treatment from the Party, State, army, doctors and his family.
With his merits and contributions to the revolutionary cause, he was granted numerous medals and awards from the Vietnamese Party and State.
He was also presented with Cambodia’s first-class Fatherland Defence Medal, Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation, and Order of Antonio Maceo of the Republic of Cuba.
In addition, he was honoured with the Order of the Rising Sun from the Japanese government for his contributions to the two countries’ defence cooperation in May 2023.
The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and the Central Military Commission - Ministry of Defence decided to hold the funeral for Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh according to the high-level funeral rituals.
