Residents’ living standards were well cared for, fostering broad social consensus and a festive atmosphere across the community.
The city proactively issued its plan for organising the 2026 Lunar New Year celebrations at an early stage. Implementation was carried out in a coordinated manner, with clear assignment of responsibilities, ensuring adequate material and spiritual care for residents. Public communication was strengthened, while public security, traffic safety and food safety were firmly maintained.
In particular, the series of “Cultural and Compassionate Tet” and “Celebrating Spring, Celebrating the Party” activities were organised extensively, spreading from the city centre to grassroots level. Artistic performances, flower streets, book streets, Tet flower markets, festivals, and fireworks displays created a vibrant and uplifting festive atmosphere.
During the nine-day Tet holiday, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed approximately 4.32 million visitors, up 35% year on year. International arrivals reached 170,000, an increase of 51.7%, while tourism revenue was estimated at 12.15 trillion VND, up 42.9%. Healthcare services, disease prevention, and food safety measures were strictly implemented, with round-the-clock staffing and adequate provision of personnel, medicines, and equipment. No cases of food poisoning or major disease outbreaks were recorded during the holiday period.
The market stabilisation programme was effectively implemented, keeping prices stable and preventing shortages or price spikes. The city prepared 12 groups of essential goods with a total value of around 26 trillion VND. Inspections and enforcement against counterfeit and smuggled goods were also intensified, contributing to market stability.
According to the municipal People’s Committee Office, the city allocated more than 2.123 trillion VND to provide Tet support for policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious service, poor households, members of the armed forces, civil servants, and workers, ensuring that 100% of beneficiaries received full and timely payments before Tet. Gifts from the State President were presented to 78,264 people with meritorious service. The average Tet bonus reached approximately 12.02 million VND per person, higher than the previous year. Labour relations remained stable, with no complicated strikes reported.
Traffic management was effectively organised to meet heightened travel demand, with no prolonged serious congestion. Telecommunications services were maintained without disruption, and environmental sanitation was effectively ensured. The city also launched a plan to plant 15,000 trees in 2026 and kicked off the annual Tree-Planting Festival.
Political security and social order across the city were generally maintained. Targeted crime prevention and suppression campaigns were implemented effectively, ensuring absolute safety for events held during this year’s Lunar New Year celebrations.
