At the press conference, Nguyen Van Da, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, stated that as of September 2025, the country has more than 17,236 OCOP products rated 3 stars or higher (belonging to 9,345 OCOP entities). Ho Chi Minh City alone has 1,026 products rated from 3 to 4 stars.
In the near future, Ho Chi Minh City will focus on the quality and sustainability of OCOP products with several specific orientations; striving to achieve more than 2,000 OCOP products rated three stars or higher during 2025–2030. The city also aims to have five to ten OCOP products meeting 5-star standards by 2030.
The focus will be on the city's distinctive strengths, including processed foods, beverages, and handicrafts; encouraging the application of technology, the use of clean and environmentally friendly materials; supporting OCOP entities in upgrading their products; and concentrating on the standardisation of production processes and improving quality standards.
During the press conference, journalists from central and local media raised many questions related to issues such as mechanisms and policies to support OCOP entities in upgrading products and expanding markets; standardising OCOP products; OCOP product groups of the city; strategies to bring OCOP products closer to consumers; and how to introduce OCOP products to overseas markets.
In addition to addressing questions from journalists, the Department of Agriculture and Environment provided information that the event “Promotion and Trade Connectivity for OCOP Products 2025” is expected to take place from November 28 to 30 at the Vung Tau Revolutionary Tradition House in Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, with a scale of around 100 booths and specialised display areas for OCOP products, as well as typical products from urban areas and provinces and cities.
In addition, the event will feature side activities such as culinary introductions, culinary demonstrations, cultural and artistic performances, and exchanges; and a seminar themed “Solutions for Developing the OCOP Value Chain, Trade Connectivity and Building the OCOP Product Brand in Ho Chi Minh City”.
Through this, the event aims to honour, promote, introduce, and connect trade for OCOP products and regional specialty products, expanding domestic and international markets; while supporting OCOP entities in improving their products, implementing digital transformation, and expanding sustainable markets; contributing to rural economic development and building modern, civilised new-style rural areas.
