This marks the first AI enrichment class held in Ho Chi Minh City for students, with the goal of nurturing and discovering young talents early on, contributing to sustainable and breakthrough development in science and technology.

Speaking with the students, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology Lam Dinh Thang, emphasised that AI is transforming the world every day.

From applications such as ChatGPT, self-driving cars, and robots, to software capable of facial recognition, writing essays, composing poems, playing music, and creating art, these showcase the power of AI.

According to Thang, the AI enrichment programme is specially designed for enthusiastic middle and high school students participating in the course.

Over the span of 12 sessions, students will not only gain a better understanding of AI but also develop teamwork skills, creative thinking, and a clearer vision for their future paths in the field of technology.

Out of the 203 selected students, 113 are high schoolers and 90 are middle school students. They come from leading schools in the city such as the High School for the Gifted (under Viet Nam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Tran Phu Secondary School, Le Quy Don Secondary School, Saigon Practice School, and others.[MS1]

[MS1]This is a little long and so hard to read, maybe "Students come from leading schools including the High School for the Gifted, Tran Dai Nghia and Le Hong Phong high schools for the gifted, as well as Tran Phu, Le Quy Don, and Saigon Practice secondary schools." or something like that if you think it still pays the schools the proper respect.

The programme is expected not only to equip students with both foundational and advanced knowledge of AI but also to foster a community of students who are passionate about and capable of researching and developing AI applications soon.

With well-prepared content and the participation of reputable lecturers, the 2025 pilot AI enrichment programme will serve as a stepping stone for scaling up AI education for students across Ho Chi Minh City in the coming years.
