Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union solemnly marks 90th anniversary

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) held a solemn ceremony in Hanoi on March 23 to mark its 90th founding anniversary and receive the Ho Chi Minh Order (for the third time).

The ceremony was attended by Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong; former State President Nguyen Minh Triet; Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; former PM Nguyen Tan Dung; former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An and Nguyen Sinh Hung; Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Vo Van Thuong; former Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh; along with a number of Politburo members and members of the Party Central committee, and leaders of ministries, central agencies and organisations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong spoke highly of the important role and significant contributions made by the HCYU to the cause of national security and development.

The Party General Secretary and State President also emphasised that during the country’s long history, young people have always promoted a tradition of patriotism, actively pioneered across all fields.

The top leader urged young people to continue promotingtheir pioneering role and creativity, while youth unions at all levels should create momentum for young people to study and work harder to protect the nation, as well as develop high-quality young officials for the Party.

Affirming that the Party, State and people have a strong belief in and high expectations for younger generations, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong asked Party committees and administrations at all levels, ministries and sectors to create favourable conditions in order to consolidate the youth unions.

He also expressed his hope that the Vietnamese youth, particularly young Party members, will lead the way in building a prosperous nation.

In his speech, Member of the Party Central Committee and First Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan reviewed the glorious tradition of the HCYU over the past 90 years, and affirmed that the youth union’s development throughout different periods has met the urgent requirements of youth movements.

On the occasion, on behalf of the leaders of the Party and State, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented the HCYU the Ho Chi Minh Order (for the third time) to acknowledge the great contributions made by the HCYU to the cause of national security, construction and development.
