In her opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy quoted President Ho Chi Minh’s message from 1946: “All ethnic groups, whether Kinh, Tho, Muong, Man, Gia Rai, E De, or others, are Vietnamese brothers and sisters. We live and die together, share joys and sorrows, and help each other in times of need.”

Reflecting on this, she emphasised that the Cultural Festival of Vietnam’s Ethnic Groups aims to celebrate and preserve the national unity and cultural diversity of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups.

These cultures, formed over centuries, create the vitality and strength of the Vietnamese nation. Each ethnic group has its unique traditions in language, dress, food, and art, contributing to the rich and unified Vietnamese culture.

The festival also serves as a platform for cultural exchange, where participants can share their cultural heritage, spread pride, and foster responsibility for preserving ethnic traditions.

This event, along with similar initiatives, aligns with the goals outlined by the Party to develop Vietnam’s culture in the context of modernisation and globalisation. In addition, the festival offers a chance to promote Quang Tri’s cultural and tourism values, contributing to sustainable tourism development.

The festival’s theme was “Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of Vietnam’s Ethnic Groups: equality, unity, respect, integration, and development for a peaceful world.” Activities included cultural performances, traditional dress showcases, culinary exhibitions, and folk games.
