Lists of animated, short and documentary films for HIFF announced

Nhan Dan Online – The Vietnamese Cinema Department has published a list of animated, short and documentary films that will compete at the second Hanoi International Film Festival (HIFF), scheduled to be shown from November 25-29.

Entries for the short feature film category are ‘Bermula Dari A’ (Indonesia); ‘Green Sliem’ (Republic of Korea); ‘Hanger’ (Malaysia); ‘Sonny, My Older Brother’ (New Zealand); ‘Swamp’ (Kyrgyzstan); ‘Gui Truong Luong’ (For Truong Luong) and ‘Hai, Tu, Sau’ (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), both produced by Vietnamese filmmakers.

The short documentary category will feature ‘God, Church, Pills and Condoms’ (the Philippines) and ‘Two Girls against the Rain’ (Cambodia), plus three Vietnamese entries namely ‘Chuyen Lang Then’ (Story about Then Village), ‘Dang Sau Su Song’ (Behind the Life) and ‘Gio Chuong Lai Ve’ (Whirlwind has Returned).

Two Vietnamese animated films ‘Bo Vang’ (Ox) and ‘Khoang Troi’ (Sky Space) will compete against two Japanese entries ‘Steps’ and ‘Z Planet’ in the popular cartoon group.

The entries were selected from hundreds of submissions sent to the festival from filmmakers in the region.

The film festival aims to promote exchanges between Vietnamese filmmakers and their international colleagues, while offering Hanoi audiences a good opportunity to enjoy a wider range of cinematic works from different movie- makers and regions around the world.
