A representative of Noi Bai International Airport stated that 13 flights operated by Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways had been cancelled over recent days, impacting approximately 2,800 passengers. Three aircraft from these airlines are currently parked at Noi Bai International Airport pending further updates.
Immediately after receiving notifications from the airlines, Noi Bai International Airport updated its flight information display system (FIDS) with the cancellation status and broadcast announcements to guide passengers who had already entered restricted areas to exit and contact airline representatives directly. For passengers who had not yet arrived at the airport, airlines proactively sent email notifications regarding cancellations and implemented support policies in accordance with regulations.
Noi Bai International Airport has maintained regular communication with the airlines to update the situation and has developed plans to arrange parking stands for aircraft unable to depart due to the impact of military operations in the Middle East. The airport is currently providing long-term parking positions for one Emirates aircraft and two Qatar Airways aircraft. In addition, the airport continues to provide updates with information from airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam to promptly inform passengers through communication channels and on-site support services.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam noted that flight operations in the coming period will depend on developments in the military situation and decisions by regional aviation authorities on reopening airspace. The authority will continue closely monitoring the situation and updating information related to the operations of the affected airlines.
The Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV) has calculated plans to reduce certain service fees related to aircraft parking at the airport. If the situation persists, ACV will continue to assess the situation to implement appropriate support measures.
In response to the significant operational impact, Middle Eastern airlines operating in Viet Nam have implemented passenger support policies, including ticket changes or refunds, and have advised travellers to regularly check flight status online before heading to the airport.
