They visited Tam Soc Pagoda in My Thuan Commune, My Tu District, and Som Rong Pagoda in Ward 5, Soc Trang City.
Major General Doan Thanh Xuan conveyed his greetings to the dignitaries, the management board of the two pagodas, and Buddhist followers in general, wishing thema peaceful and happy traditional festival.
He also expressed his hope that Buddhist dignitaries and followers will continue to promote their fine tradition ofsolidarity and self-reliance to rise up in life while preserving cultural identity and the patriotic tradition to contribute to local socio-economic development as well as defence and security.
Venerable Ly Duc, the Abbot of Som Rong Pagoda, thanked the leaders of the Military Region 9 Command and the Military Command of Soc Trang Province for their visit and well wishes to the Khmer people during their Chol Chnam Thmay Festival. He added that Buddhist dignitaries and followers have always promoted the great national unity and lived in accordance with the Buddha's saying of “Long life, beauty, happiness, and strength” to contribute to the local development and to control the COVID-19 pandemic.
