Netflix has removed a TV series for showing a map violating Vietnamese sovereignty.

The Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (ABEI) said it found on June 25 that a map with an illegal nine-dash in the East Sea/South China Sea appeared at the 12th minute of episode 2 and the 52nd minute of episode 3.

The showing of the map was in violation of Vietnamese press and cinema laws, ABEI concluded.

The show was later removed from its service in Vietnam on June 30, following the complaint from ABEI.

It is the third time in 12 months that Netflix has been found to be providing TV series and movies with content violating Vietnamese sovereignty to users in Vietnam.

The two previous incidents involved the series “Put Your Head On My Shoulder” in July 2020 and the series “Madam Secretary” the following month, where the illegal map was also shown.
