Construction on the project began on December 29, 2016, with a total capital of VND194 billion (US$8.52 million) provided from the city’s budget.
Earlier, the N2 branch, running from Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge to Vo Van Kiet Boulevard in District 1, was put into operation on August 30 and measures 155 metres long.
The N1 branch, permitting vehicles in Vo Van Kiet Boulevard from Binh Chanh to reach Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge, is 122 metres long.
Meanwhile, the N3 branch, which connects the first branch with Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge, spans Tau Hu Canal and joins Ba Dinh Street, measuring 173 metres long. It combines with Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge to create four lanes for vehicles to travel on from District 5 to District 8 and vice versa.
Besides the three main branches, the project comprises auxiliary items such as a lighting system and trees.
The new bridge aims to reduce traffic jams in the area and contribute to connecting Vo Van Kiet Boulevard with the main roads in the south of the city in a more efficient manner.
