This was affirmed by Ambassador of Viet Nam to the Republic of Korea Vu Ho at the launch ceremony of the direct Phu Quoc–Seoul route, held on the evening of March 25 in Seoul, with the participation of nearly 100 guests from leading travel agencies of both Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea.
The event marks an important step in the airline’s strategy to expand its international distribution network, while officially activating the Republic of Korea market – one of the key sources of visitors for Phu Quoc tourism.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Vu Ho noted that Viet Nam–Republic of Korea relations have developed strongly on the foundation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, in which aviation serves as the lifeline of exchanges and cooperation. A highly dynamic flight network between the two countries has taken shape, with hundreds of flights each week. For Phu Quoc, peak periods can record more than 10 flights per day from the Republic of Korea, reflecting the special appeal of the “Pearl Island” to Korean tourists.
“These figures not only reflect passenger volumes, but also demonstrate the depth of economic, cultural and people-to-people ties between the two nations. Each air route is not merely a transport link, but an ‘aerial silk ribbon’ connecting people, ideas and opportunities between the two countries,” Ambassador Vu Ho stressed.
According to Ambassador Vu Ho, the launch of the new Phu Quoc–Seoul air route by Sun PhuQuoc Airways not only expands direct connectivity between Phu Quoc and Seoul, but also creates momentum to promote tourism cooperation, investment and people-to-people exchanges, bringing Viet Nam’s “Pearl Island” closer to its goal of becoming a leading resort destination in the region.
The Phu Quoc–Seoul route connects high-quality tourism from Phu Quoc – an international-scale resort hub – to Seoul, one of Asia’s most dynamic and creative cities. This connection will generate new investment opportunities as well as enhance mutual understanding and exchanges between the peoples of Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea. In the near future, with plans to develop a wide-body fleet and expand into medium-haul and intercontinental routes, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will not only operate within Asia but also aim to position Phu Quoc as a truly global destination, Ambassador Vu Ho noted.
As planned, Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ direct Seoul (ICN)–Phu Quoc (PQC) route is scheduled to commence operations on April 17, 2026 with a frequency of one flight per day, increasing to two flights per day in the next phase. Following Seoul, the airline is also expected to launch the Busan–Phu Quoc route from June 2026.
