The VND1,730 billion (US$74.1 million) project will be implemented in 2020 with funding provided from the state budget.

The 14.3-kilometre-long and 11-metre-wide bypass road will allow a maximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour and help ease traffic through the centre of Ca Mau City.

It is also designed to reduce road accidents and meet the socio-economic demands of Ca Mau Province and the Mekong Delta in general.

In addition to the main road section, the project also includes two intersections with National Highway 1.

Once finished, it will connect with the third ring road and the southern coastal belt to finalise Ca Mau Province’s complete road network as envisaged.
