Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen The Anh, Chairman of Nghi Son Town People’s Committee, said that with 42km of coastline and a favourable traffic network, Nghi Son has become a magnetic destination for sea tourism in Thanh Hoa Province.
He stressed that the local authorities have paid due attention to developing tourism into a key economic sector and target to welcome 1.2 million visitors and tourism revenue of around 2.3 trillion VND in 2024.
The opening ceremony featured songs and dances praising the attractive natural beauty of Nghi Son’s waters and the people’s aspiration to develop Nghi Son Town into a prosperous coastal land in the south of Thanh Hoa Province.
Visitors to the opening ceremony were entertained with a folk performance in 'hau dong' (spirit mediumship) rituals, a rice cooking contest, and colourful fireworks displays.
A fair showcasing typical OCOP products of Thanh Hoa and a men’s volleyball tournament were also held on the occasion.
The festival aims to advertise natural landscape, cultural heritages, and tourist products of Nghi Son Town to people from both inside and outside Thanh Hoa Province, thus attracting more visitors and investors to the locality.
