The upgrade includes repainting the arch of the bridge, raising the navigational clearance from 4.5 metres to 7 metres and completing the intersections at the two bridgeheads.

The repair begins this August and is expected to finish in three months.

Nguyen Van Troi bridge was constructed in 1965 to connect the west and the east of Da Nang city to serve the war.

Prior to the Han River swing bridge that was subsequently put into operation in 2000, Nguyen Van Troi was the only bridge for traffic going across the river.

The converting of the Nguyen Van Troi bridge for pedestrian use creates a tourist destination for visitors to see the city from the Han River and contributes to boosting the tourism sector of Da Nang city.
