Running until February 10, the event featured rituals of welcoming the gods, inviting and installing the golden bodies and spirit tablets of the ancestors, parades and art performances, among others.
The traditional festival of Ong Pagoda was recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage in November 2023, making it the first national intangible cultural heritage of Dong Nai Province to be recognised.
This is not only the joy of the Chinese community but also the joy of many people in the area.
Ong Pagoda was built in 1684 on Pho Islet (now Hiep Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City) and has been around for over 340 years. Every year, the authorities of Dong Nai Province and Bien Hoa City create conditions for the festival to take place, meeting the religious needs of the people.
