According to the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, there are currently 1,815,000 people with meritorious services that were purchased health insurance by the State (in addition to relatives of meritorious people who have purchased the health insurance by the State according to the Law on Health Insurance) with a budget of more than 1.46 billion VND per year.
The State purchases health insurance and provides medical examinations and treatment in accordance with the Law on Health Insurance for people with meritorious services and their relatives. These include biological fathers and mothers, spouses, children from 6 to 18 years old or over 18 years old who continue going to school or have severe disabilities, people taking care of martyrs at a young age, people taking care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, people serving wounded and sick soldiers, war invalids, resistance activists infected with toxic chemicals whose working ability decreased from 81% and martyrs’ spouses marrying another martyr’s spouse.
The Health Insurance regime for people with meritorious services is concerned with the motto that people with meritorious services are given the highest priority as well as the most complete and timely care.
According to the Law on Health Insurance, people with meritorious services are paid 100% health insurance fees. The health insurance regime for people with meritorious services is implemented timely, meeting the aspirations of meritorious people and their relatives without any questions about the form and level of support.
