The information was released at a press briefing held by the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee on June 4.
The event features the participation of more than 2,130 athletes from 12 provinces and cities including: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Khanh Hoa.
According to Nguyen Cong Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam Province, the athletes will compete in 11 events, including: Tug of War, Stick Pushing, Volleyball, Badminton, Swimming, Athletics, Football, Table Tennis, Basketball, Shuttlecock, and Aerobics.
The opening ceremony of the festival is scheduled to be held at the Quang Nam Provincial Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. on June 12.
Held every 4 years, the Phu Dong Sports Festival is the biggest event of its kind for school students. The festival is expected to help discover, foster and train young sports talents from localities across the whole country.
