The Management Board of the Project on integrating resilience to climate change with environmental protection for the development of class-II green cities (Green City Project), under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, recently held the award ceremony and photo exhibition “Green Moments – Green Actions – Green Future”.
Launched in May 2025 by the Department of Environment under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, with the sponsorship of the Viet Nam Association of Photographic Artists, the contest aimed to encourage the community to capture meaningful images and spread messages about green actions, sustainable consumption, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation.
In his opening speech, Nguyen Do Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, emphasised that this is one of the key communication activities of the project on integrating resilience to climate change with environmental protection for the development of class-II green cities.”
He noted that the contest is not merely an artistic event but also a journey of inspiration. Each photograph tells a story, conveys a message. Through their lenses, photographers become “green storytellers,” reminding us that a small action today can bring about great change tomorrow; a beautiful photograph today can spark countless green actions in the future.
After more than two months of launching, the contest attracted wide participation from photographers nationwide. By 31 August, the organisers had received 963 submissions, including 860 single photos and 103 photo series, from 192 authors across 26 provinces and cities. A total of 12 outstanding works were awarded official prizes.
The entries not only possess artistic value but also deliver powerful messages of green action, fostering public awareness and responsibility to protect the environment for a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful Viet Nam. They also highlight themes of climate resilience, circular economy, sustainable consumption, green public procurement, and low-emission urban development.
According to photographer Vu Anh Tuan, Head of the Judging Panel, the competition received enthusiastic participation, with each entry contributing to the promotion of positive and meaningful actions by individuals and organisations to improve the environment and raise awareness of pollution threats that require effective solutions.
As the environment is a specialised and challenging subject for many photography enthusiasts, environmental experts were also invited to participate in the judging process. The panel carefully evaluated each entry to select those meeting the contest’s artistic and thematic criteria for exhibition and awards. The council decided to present one First Prize, two Second Prizes, three Third Prizes, and five Consolation Prizes among the 50 exhibited photos.
The exhibition runs until October 31 at the Cultural, Information and Sports Centre of Hoan Kiem Ward (No. 42 Nha Chung Street, Hoan Kiem District, Ha Noi).
