President visits People's Police Academy

President Truong Tan Sang visited the Hanoi-based People's Police Academy on the morning of March 3 on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2015.

President Sang visited the facilities and professional classes, and also planted a memorial tree on the grounds of the academy.

Lieutenant-General Nguyen Xuan Yem, Director of the People’s Police Academy said that over the past 47 years, generations of staff and teachers have exerted themselves to develop the academy into one of the leading training and science research centres of the Vietnamese police force.

The academy has trained more than 50,000 police officers in 13 majors and trained thousands of police officers for Laos and Cambodia, Director Yem added.

The President praised achievements of the academy in the past and asked the academy to effectively undertake the education and training tasks aligned with the implementation of political tasks of the police sector.

He also required the academy to renew its training content, programme and methods in accordance with the Party's Resolution No.29-NQ/TW on comprehensive renovation of education and training.
