The Quang Binh Design Consultancy Joint Stock Company and the 533 Consultancy Joint Stock Company have worked on the repair plans, set to begin by the end of March and be completed by the second quarter of this year.

The bridges set for repair, were built 15 years ago in Minh Hoa, Tuyen Hoa and Bo Trach districts.

The Quang Binh Provincial Department of Transportation (PDT) examined the hanging bridges in 2012 and found that all the walkways were deteriorated. However, local residents still use the bridges as they are the only way to travel.

The Phu Xuan bridge’s walkway is severely damaged.

According to Le Quoc Cuong, PDT Vice Director, after the repair, PDT will evaluate the safety of each bridge to decide when the bridges will have to be taken out of use and devise plans to seek capital for building permanent concrete bridges to replace the hanging bridges.
