The programme was jointly held by the Swami Vivekananda Culture Centre (under the Embassy of India in Hanoi), the provincial Department of Culture and Sports and the People's Committee of Van Don District.

Sandeep Arya, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Vietnam spoke highly of the event's organisation on the bank of beautiful Bai Tu Long Bay. He said Yoga demonstrates an important cultural connection and people-to-people exchange between India and Vietnam.

On December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly designated June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. Since then, millions of people around the globe, united by the practice of yoga, have celebrated this day each year. This global celebration fosters unity and harmony, transcends borders and cultures, and brings us closer to a world of peace and well-being.

The event, which touches on the UN’s theme of “Yoga for Self and Society,” is hoped to allow dwellers of all ages to learn practical techniques to implement yogic philosophy in daily life.
