Sacombank establishes wholly-owned bank in Laos

The Vietnam’s Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) on December 15 officially announced the establishment of its wholly foreign-owned bank in Laos after a seven-year presence in the country.

Under the approval of the Central Bank of Laos and the State Bank of Vietnam, Sacombank transformed its branch in Laos into a wholly foreign-owned bank named Saigon Thuong Tin Bank Laos Co.Ltd (Sacombank Laos) on August 3, 2015.

Sacombank Laos is located at No.44, Hengboun Street, in Chanthabury district in Vientiane and has a chartered capital of US$39 million.

To date, Sacombank has a network of 563 transaction points in 48 provinces and cities in Vietnam, a wholly foreign-owned bank and seven branches in Cambodia, and a wholly foreign-owned bank and two branches in Laos.

Sacombank was the first Vietnamese bank to expand its operations outside of the Vietnamese territory with the opening of a branch in Laos in December 2008.
