The festival, which will take place over four days from June 5-8, is featuring many rich and unique activities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Pham Thanh Ngai, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dong Thap Province, said that the festival aimed to honour the specialty fruits of Dong Thap Province, the Mekong Delta region, and the whole country; to promote the potential and strengths of the fruit industry; to promote trade, connect consumption in the domestic market and export; contributing to the development of the agricultural economy, increasing production value, and building the image of Dong Thap as a locality developing ecological, modern, and sustainable agriculture.
To date, the province has granted 3,452 planting area codes, covering an area of over 100,000 hectares. As a result, many key products such as mangoes, durians, jackfruits, pomelos, longans, etc., have established their position in the market, gradually meeting international export standards; contributing to increasing the added value and competitiveness of Dong Thap’s agricultural products.
Through the first Dong Thap Fruit Festival in 2026, Dong Thap province hopes to create momentum to promote the development of the fruit industry in a modern, green, and sustainable direction, contributing to raising awareness and guiding consumer orientation towards safe, nutritious fruit products that meet the requirements of the domestic and export markets.
Dong Thap province has approximately 135,000 hectares of fruit trees, producing 2.48 million tonnes per year. Some of the key varieties with established brands in the market include: durian, mango, jackfruit, dragon fruit, longan, and pomelo.
