Delegates at the three-day event focused their discussions on the relations between heritage and cities, climate change and technical and social initiatives.

In his speech, Pierre Baillet, Permanent Secretary of the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF), the event’s organiser, stressed that the AIMF attached global attention to such topics relating to culture in connection with development.

The association also wants to consolidate relations among Francophone cities in the Southeast Asia region as well as its relations with other dynamic Asian cities in exchanging and sharing experiences on urban heritage and sustainable development, he said.

Chairman of Hue city People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh hailed the AIMF for its initiatives launched in recent years on urban heritages and for its support for the city’s leaders in cultural heritage preservation and promoting balanced city management and planning.

As a positive member of the AIMF, Hue city always shows active participation and makes contributions to the organisation’s operation, representing the city’s strong commitment to the conservation and sustainable development of its heritages.
