Lieutenant General Le Van Minh, head of the GDLE, stressed that GDLE officers and people’s army force in general always stand together with the coast guard and fisheries surveillance in protecting the country’s sovereignty over its sea and islands.
He also raised his voice to protest against China’s illegal placement of oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 within Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
In response to the ‘The Whole Country Supports East Sea’, calligrapher Ai Diep presented 1,000 T-shirts to fishermen in Da Nang city. Each T-shirt features a sentence saying ‘Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) Belong to Vietnam’ in calligraphic style under the theme of the blue sky and Vietnam’s national flag.
A steel-hulled fishing boat will be built for fishermen in Duc Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province according to an agreement signed on June 12 between the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) and the provincial People’s Committee.
The VND10.3 billion boat will be equipped with better features than the fishermen’s current wooden boats, regarding speed, seafood harvesting, and product preservation after harvest in order to increase productivity, while ensuring safety for the fishermen during their voyages.
