Survey focuses on 53 ethnic minorities’ socio-economic situation

The Prime Minister has signed a decision approving a project to survey and collect information about the socio-economic situation of the 53 ethnic minority groups.

The project aims to systematise the data to serve the State management on ethnic affairs. Authorities of localities inhabited by ethnic minority groups and officials working in relevant offices at central, provincial and municipal levels are responsible for conducting the survey on ethnic minority households.

The project will focus on collecting information about the population and population distribution, access to infrastructure and services, social welfare, human resources training and development, health care and rural environmental sanitation, and religion and beliefs.

The survey will be carried out every five years, on July 1 of the years ending in 4 and 9. The first survey will be conducted in the first quarter of 2015.
