Ta Lung – Shuikou border gate upgraded to international status

Authorities of Viet Nam’s Cao Bang province and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region held a ceremony on September 12 to announce the official upgrade of the Ta Lung – Shuikou border gate pair to international status.

This is the largest border gate in terms of import-export turnover in Cao Bang Province, generating substantial budget revenue and contributing to the local fiscal budget.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lam Xiao, Secretary of the Chongzuo city Party Committee shared that upgrading the Ta Lung – Shuikou border gate pair to international status would create favourable conditions and opportunities to strengthen cooperation, exchanges, and import-export activities between the two sides.

Based on the principle of "friendship, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness," Chongzuo City will continue to enhance cooperation, trade exchanges, develop production capacity cooperation, and jointly promote regional economic connectivity, contributing to building a stronger China-ASEAN community and a Viet Nam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

For his part, Hoang Van Thach, Vice Chairman of Cao Bang provincial People's Committee, highlighted the significance of the upgrade of the Ta Lung – Shuikou pair to international status.

The status elevation is expected to unlock new opportunities in trade, investment, tourism, transport connectivity, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties, he stressed.

He affirmed that Cao Bang province will make bolder investment in infrastructure perfection and improve management and administration capacity at the Ta Lung international border gate, making the it a highlight in Viet Nam-China border cooperation while promoting socio-economic development for both localities.

Currently, Cao Bang has two international border gates namely Ta Lung and Tra Linh.
