The ceremony was attended by General Tran Dai Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security; Party Central Committee member and National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu.
Addressing the ceremony, NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu congratulated the Tam Diep city administration and people for their achievements over the past 33 years.
He also urged the city to uphold its fine traditions, develop its potential and make full use of its advantages to contribute to local socio-economic development.
Over the past 30 years of its development, Tam Diep town has recorded significant socio-economic achievements with a high annual growth rate of 19% to 25%. In 2012, Tam Diep town was recognised as a class-three city.
The newly-established city currently has a total land area of 10,497 hectares and a population of over 104,000.
