Tien Minh wins bronze medal at SEA Games 27

Nhan Dan Online – Vietnamese badminton star Nguyen Tien Minh was stopped in the men’s single semi-finals at the SEA Games 27, taking the bronze medal, after unexpectedly losing 1-2 to his Idonesian rival Rumbaka Dionysius Hayom on December 13.

Although Rumbaka took the lead 4-0 in the first few minutes of the first set, Tien Minh clawed back to equalise 4-4. The Vietnamese player sped up the pace of the game with aggressive attacks to lead 14-10, then 21-13 to win the first set.

However in the second set, the Indonesian player took the lead 3-0 and 11-8 before wining 21-12.

The decisive third set took place fascinatingly. Rumbaka led 3-1, but Tien Minh quickly tied the score at 4-4. The two players continuously produced spectacular attacks and Tien Minh managed to lead 14-10, then 20-16.

However, Rumbaka spectacularly came back to score six consecutive points and win 22-20.
