The event aims to preserve and promote national cultural identity, strengthen great national unity in the Vietnamese community in Japan, and foster friendly exchanges between the peoples of Viet Nam and Japan.
The programme is jointly organised by the Vietnamese Association in Kansai region, the International Friendship Promotion Organisation, and 15 Vietnamese associations in Japan, under the patronage of the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Osaka and the authorities of Ikuno Ward, Osaka City.
Le Thuong, President of the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Kansai region and representative of the Organising Committee, said that the programme will feature many highlight contents such as organising a traditional banh chung wrapping contest; the photo contest “Vietnamese Tet Feast in Japan”; Vietnamese costume performance; art painting and photo exhibition; and etc. Participants also have the opportunity to take part in folk games, enjoy Vietnamese cuisine at the food stalls, and engage in Vietnamese-Japanese cultural exchange activities. In particular, the programme will screen the film ‘Red Rain’ free of charge to introduce this historically significant film to the Vietnamese community in Japan
The programme helps spread the spirit of great national unity, raise awareness of cultural identity, while affirming the role of the Vietnamese community in Japan in the process of international integration.
It is expected that the programme will attract not only the Vietnamese community in Japan but also Japanese friends and international visitors, and becoming a distinctive cultural exchange activity to welcome the New Year 2026.
