In the nationwide atmosphere of excitement welcoming the 2026 New Year and the forthcoming 14th National Party Congress, the Viet Nam Coast Guard has proactively organised patrols, inspections, and control, strictly maintaining combat readiness regimes in assigned sea areas, thereby contributing to safeguarding security and safety across the nation's seas and islands.

Strictly implementing directives and orders from the Central Military Commission, Ministry of Defence, and Viet Nam Coast Guard Command, the regional coast guards have proactively devised plans and patrol schemes suited to the actual situations in each sea area.

At present, the entire force maintains 10 ships and boats on combat readiness at islands; 49 ships undertake tasks against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, focusing on key sea areas, border zones, and places with potential risks of law violations, smuggling, and trade fraud. Simultaneously, 14 ships and boats are strictly maintained on duty at 11 ports.

Whilst on duty, officers and soldiers strictly uphold command duty and combat readiness regimes; they closely combine patrols, inspections, and control with dissemination of law to fishermen engaged in seafood exploitation at sea.

This enables timely detection, prevention, and handling of violations, contributing to raising public awareness of law compliance and building a solid people's posture at sea.

Major Hoang Van Bien, Captain of ship CSB 8001, Flotilla 301, Coast Guard Region 3 Command, currently performing anti-IUU tasks in the Viet Nam–Indonesia border sea area, shared that every officer and soldier regarded carrying out tasks at sea during the country’s celebration of the New Year 2026 and the forthcoming 14th National Party Congress as an important political duty.

He emphasised that the entire ship strictly maintains duty regimes, high combat readiness, upholds discipline and order, ensures absolute safety of personnel and equipment, and is determined never to be passive or caught unprepared in any situation at sea.

Lieutenant Le Hong Duc, Political Officer of ship CSB 4039, Flotilla 422, Squadron 42, Coast Guard Region 4 Command, affirmed that every officer and soldier clearly recognises the responsibility of Coast Guard personnel.

“We encourage each other to remain united and supportive, proactively ensuring sound technical and logistical work. Everyone upholds a high spirit of vigilance, avoids complacency, and is ready to handle all situations promptly and safely.”

Alongside specialised tasks, priorities are also given to maintaining the vessels’ technical and logistical assurance, and caring for the material and spiritual lives of the troops during Tet duty and peak duty periods.

Training and drills on combat readiness schemes, fire and explosion prevention, search and rescue, and sea rescue are conducted seriously, ensuring swift, effective, and lawful handling when situations arise.

Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Nam, a crew member on ship CSB 4039, confided that everyone misses home and loved ones, especially comrades with young children or elderly parents back in the homeland. However, they always bear in mind the duty of soldiers and their responsibility to the Fatherland.

“The trust and support from family and the people is a great source of encouragement for us to work with peace of mind and stand firm at the wave crests,” Nam stated.

The reinforcement of forces and means for sea patrols during the New Year holiday, Lunar New Year, and preparations for the forthcoming 14th National Party Congress not only demonstrates the high sense of responsibility of the Viet Nam Coast Guard towards the Party, State, and people, but also affirms its role as the core force in law enforcement, protecting sovereignty, and maintaining security, order, and safety in the nation's sea areas.

With strong political determination, proactive spirit, vigilance, and the will to overcome difficulties, Viet Nam Coast Guard officers and soldiers continue to remain ready to receive and successfully complete all assigned tasks, contributing to upholding a peaceful and stable maritime environment, thereby creating an important foundation for the country to enter the New Year 2026 and embark on a new development path with renewed confidence and momentum.
