The delegation of Quang Tri Province extends congratulations to Khammouane Province on the recognition of HinNamNo National Park as a World Natural Heritage site, an extension to Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park World Natural Heritage, on July 13, 2025, at the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee.

Organised in Quang Tri Province, the workshop saw the participation of relevant agencies of the two provinces of Quang Tri and Khammouane, representatives of central agencies of Viet Nam and Laos, international organisations, the Viet Nam National Commission for UNESCO, domestic and foreign experts, and tourism enterprises.

Information presented at the workshop highlighted that on July 13, 2025, at the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee, HinNamNo National Park was officially recognised as a World Natural Heritage site, forming an extension to the Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park World Natural Heritage.

This marks the first transboundary World Natural Heritage site in Southeast Asia, a source of pride for both nations, while also placing shared responsibility on them in the management, conservation, and promotion of heritage values.

The transboundary cooperation framework is one of the tools for effective heritage governance and serves as a foundation for implementing current and future cross-border cooperation activities. At the first workshop, held in Khammouane Province, stakeholders identified a shared vision and eight management cooperation goals to be achieved by 2050.

This workshop in Quang Tri Province aims to translate those goals into practical, feasible, and sustainable activities in the fields of biodiversity conservation, scientific research, ecotourism development, improvement of community livelihoods, and cross-border heritage governance, thereby contributing to preserving and promoting the shared heritage values.

The workshop runs until September 19.
