VNAT Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh highlighted Viet Nam’s dual appeal—not only as a country rich in unique, cinematic locations but also as a fast-growing film market with abundant opportunities for production and distribution partnerships.
Viet Nam offers a “scenery library” of diverse, breathtaking landscapes ideal for adventure, action, and fantasy genres. Its rich cultural heritage, shaped by 54 ethnic groups, provides a vibrant tapestry for storytelling through customs, festivals, cuisine, attire, and architecture.
The country also boasts a young, dynamic, and well-trained film workforce, spanning roles such as assistant directors, cinematographers, lighting specialists, production managers, and interpreters.
In comparison with many regional and global destinations, Viet Nam remains highly cost-effective, offering competitive rates on labour, services, accommodation, and logistics—allowing producers to maximise creative investment.
Notably, strong government support is also a key advantage. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in cooperation with local authorities, is streamlining filming permit procedures and actively supporting location scouting, local service partnerships, and production safety.
“We are working on detailed incentive policies to attract more international film projects,” Khanh said.
Speakers at the seminar explored the scale and potential of Viet Nam’s film industry, legal frameworks, and successful co-production models, while emphasising cinema as a powerful tool to elevate the country’s image and tourism brand globally.
VNAT plans to launch a centralised film production information hub to help foreign filmmakers access updated, comprehensive data on filming locations, services, and procedures in Viet Nam.
