Vietnam Coast Guard and National Border Committee sign coordination regulations

On January 30, the Vietnam Coast Guard and the National Border Committee, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a conference in Hanoi to sign coordination regulations for the management and protection of national sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction at sea.

Nguyen Minh Vu, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, Major General Le Quang Dao, Chairman of the National Border Committee, co-chaired the conference.

The event was attended by leaders of agencies under the National Border Committee, leaders of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command and representatives of functional agencies on both sides.

The coordination regulation includes three chapters and ten articles, that stipulate the scope, principles, responsibilities, forms, coordination mechanisms and implementation work.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to provide and exchange information, coordinate to advise and propose to the Party, Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of National Defense on issues related to management, protection of national sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction at sea.

The signing of the coordination regulations has a particularly important meaning.

The coordination regulations have perfected the method and content of coordination and are an important legal basis for the Vietnam Coast Guard and the National Border Committee to coordinate more closely on aspects of work related to the management and protection of sovereignty, sovereign rights and national jurisdiction at sea.
