This information was announced at a press conference on September 8, held by the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Hanoi.
2023 is the year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Africa and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam-France and Vietnam-Japan.
In addition to political events, visits and working visits of senior leaders, "Vietnam Days Abroad 2023" will organise many seminars and forums to promote economics, trade and investment and performance and interactive exchange programmes, imbued with traditional cultural colours, notably the Vietnamese Cultural Space with the theme "Origins, vitality and continuity".
At the press conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO Hoang Huu Anh emphasised, that this year's event aims to elevate the image of Vietnam and its dynamic people, along with showcasing the country’s unique cultural characteristics and promoting its economic, trade, and investment ties among countries.

According to the plan, "Vietnam Days Abroad 2023" will open in Pretoria, South Africa's capital, on September 14 and 15.

Nguyen Thi Yen, director at Dong Do Event and Performance Services JSC, said that art shows within the framework of Vietnam Days Abroad 2023, will delight spectators with a performance of the meo flute, a traditional instrument of the H’mong ethnic minority in northern Vietnam, lotus dances, a fashion show of Nguyen Dynasty costumes, and southern folk music.
The programme will treat international friends to 'pho' (Vietnamese rice noodles), a world-renowned Vietnamese dish.
The Vietnamese cultural space will bring together multiple artisans and young cultural practitioners, to showcase the Vietnamese crafts of lacquer art, Dong Ho folk painting art, and figurine art.
An array of photos of diplomatic ties, as well as Vietnam’s heritage, land, and people will be on display at the cultural space during the festival.
With diverse activities, many unique highlights and many new factors, "Vietnam Days Abroad 2023" promises to contribute to tightening the friendly relationship between Vietnam and other countries, while widely promoting the image of Vietnam's country, people, and culture to international friends.
