The event drew the participation of representatives from women’s associations of Quang Tri province, the Lao provinces of Salavan and Savannakhet, and Thailand’s province of Mukdahan.

Participants discussed ways to prevent human trafficking, particularly along the borders of the three nations.

Focus was put on strengthening cooperation among authorities of the provinces along the East-West Corridor - which runs from Vietnam to Myanmar via Laos and Thailand - in combating human trafficking and overseas workers management, ensuring financial resources for the work and raising public awareness and the participation of authorities and local residents alike.

Other efforts include creating jobs and providing financial support for returning victims and sharing experience in combating human trafficking among the localities.

Over the past years, numerous exchanges have been conducted by the relevant provincial women’s associations to strengthen the cooperation among the localities, particularly in fighting human trafficking.
