The move came as a result of the recent approval of Vietnam’s application to the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, the body added.

Vietnamese people, who go abroad for business or study, will be permitted to drive road vehicles in line with their IDP category.

According to DRVN Deputy Director Ngo Van Quyen, the event marks Vietnam’s complete integration into the international community with regards to driver's license.

Currently, Vietnamese overseas can have their driver’s licenses exchanged for the equivalent of the native countries, and vice versa for foreign drivers in Vietnam.
