On the morning of June 1, the National Hospital of Pediatrics officially opened its second facility in Kieu Phu commune, Ha Noi. The event demonstrated the consistent policy of the Party, State, and Government in prioritising investment in the protection, care, and improvement of children’s health; reflecting the determination to continue developing a specialised and modern medical system to better meet the healthcare needs of the people.
Professor, Dr. Tran Minh Dien, Director of the National Hospital of Pediatrics, shared that due to the increasing demand for children’s healthcare, the number of pediatric patients seeking examination and treatment at the hospital has continuously increased. Despite implementing numerous solutions to expand operations, improve procedures, and enhance capacity, overcrowding at the main facility remains a major challenge.
Based on this practical need, the Government has agreed to invest in the construction of a second facility to gradually alleviate the burden on the main facility, expand the hospital's development space, and help more children access high-quality medical services.
The project commenced in 2023 on an area of nearly 6 hectares, with a total investment of over 880 billion VND. To date, the new facility has completed all construction items, meeting all legal and professional requirements to officially begin operations.
Professor Tran Minh Dien stated that the second facility operates within the overall operations of the National Hospital of Pediatrics. The hospital has fully prepared its human resources, management system, professional procedures, techniques, and quality assurance conditions to ensure the new facility operates effectively from the very beginning.
In the initial phase, the second facility will have a capacity of 300 inpatient beds, comprising 11 clinical departments along with necessary paraclinical units and functional units, focusing on specialties with high demand for medical examination and treatment to alleviate the burden on the main facility and expand access to healthcare services for the public. The team of doctors, nurses, and technicians at the second facility will be deployed according to the hospital’s overall plan to ensure professional quality and patient care. The new facility can receive 1,000-1,500 outpatient visits daily.
The opening of the second facility not only helps to alleviate the burden on the main facility but also ushers in a new phase of development for the National Hospital of Pediatrics in fulfilling its mission of caring for, protecting, and improving the health of Vietnamese children.
