Speaking at the event, Consul General Tran Tuan Anh reaffirmed the significance of the traditional neighbourly relationship between Viet Nam and Cambodia, which has been nurtured over many generations on a foundation of trust, respect, and a shared aspiration for peace, stability, and development.

Against a backdrop of regional and global uncertainties, Viet Nam and Cambodia continue to strengthen cooperation across a wide range of fields, notably politics, the economy, trade, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

According to the Vietnamese diplomat, over the years the community of people of Vietnamese origin in Battambang and neighbouring provinces has made constant efforts to overcome difficulties and gradually integrate into local society.

Community members have preserved the Vietnamese language, customs, and traditions while complying with local laws, thereby helping to build the image of a diligent, responsible, and united community.

Consul General Tran Tuan Anh stressed that it is the community’s perseverance, compassion, and sense of solidarity that have created a solid foundation for its continued development, enabling it to become an important bridge for the Viet Nam-Cambodia friendship.

He added that in 2026 the Consulate General in Battambang will continue to prioritise citizen protection and the safeguarding of the legitimate rights and interests of community members, promote economic diplomacy, support business connectivity, strengthen cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges, and accompany the community in its process of sustainable integration.

Anh expressed his gratitude and voiced his hope for continued support from the authorities of Battambang Province and other northwestern provinces of Cambodia.

For his part, Battambang Governor Sok Lou expressed his delight at Viet Nam’s rapid development and emphasised that Battambang plays an active role in promoting the close and friendly relations between Viet Nam and Cambodia.

Governor Sok Lou highly appreciated and thanked the Vietnamese Consulate General in Battambang for its contributions to strengthening bilateral relations at various levels through activities that promote cultural exchanges and enhance people-to-people ties.

He also expressed his confidence that comprehensive cooperation between the two neighbouring countries will continue to grow steadily across all fields.
