More than 500 delegates, including leaders of the Viet Nam Women's Union, officials from Hue City, representatives of Women's Union chapters from provinces and cities across central Viet Nam, together with numerous members, exemplary families and disadvantaged children, gathered in Hue on June 26 for the rally organised by the Viet Nam Women's Union Central Committee to celebrate Vietnamese Family Day 2026.
Marking 25 years of Vietnamese Family Day, the rally carried profound political and social significance, reaffirming the indispensable role of the family in nurturing well-rounded Vietnamese citizens, preserving national cultural identity and laying the foundation for the country's sustainable development.
Speaking at the event, Le Thi Thuy, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Women's Union, stressed that the message of "Touching Hearts, Building Happiness" is not merely the theme of this year's programme but also a heartfelt call to every Vietnamese family to continue nurturing happiness.
According to Thuy, Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Women's Union Central Committee expressed her hope that this spirit will spread widely throughout the organisation, to every family and across society, encouraging everyone to recognise their shared responsibility in building loving homes.
"Every family should continue to be a home filled with love, the first environment in which character, intellect, aspirations to contribute and a sense of responsibility towards the nation are nurtured. Every Women's Union official, member and woman should become a 'touchpoint of love' within their family and community," she said.
The head of the Viet Nam Women's Union also called on grandparents and parents to lead by example through their moral values and way of life, while encouraging children to preserve family traditions, show filial respect to their elders, and strive through learning and self-improvement to become responsible and valuable members of society.
Beyond its inspiring messages, the rally also featured a range of heartfelt activities. A cooking competition entitled "The Taste of Home" attracted 22 teams, each presenting home-cooked meals rich in local flavours while conveying the importance of sharing and togetherness around the family table.
One of the highlights of the event was a dialogue with exemplary families representing a wide range of family models in modern society.
In addition, the organising committee presented 150 gift packages worth a total of 180 million VND to orphaned and disadvantaged children in Hue City. The gifts reflected the community's care and compassion, providing encouragement for the children to overcome difficulties and pursue a brighter future.
Addressing the programme, Nguyen Van Manh, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, commended the Women's Union at all levels for its outstanding achievements in effectively implementing emulation movements and campaigns promoting happy families in recent years.
He also urged the Hue City Women's Union to continue strengthening public awareness of the 2022 Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence, disseminating policies on population development and the building of Vietnamese family values in the new era, while working closely with the health and education sectors to deliver counselling and training programmes aimed at improving reproductive healthcare knowledge, enhancing population quality and fostering strong and sustainable families.
