Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son made the statement at a gathering for press agencies held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on January 14, on the occasion of New Year 2025.
At the gathering, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that in 2024, Vietnam achieved proud accomplishments in all aspects. Vietnam remains a bright spot amid global and regional fluctuations and instability. Over the past year, the story of a peaceful, independent, self-reliant, stable, dynamic, and developing country, which is also an attractive and safe destination, an active and responsible member of the international community, a nation steadfastly advancing into a new era of rising, has been widely conveyed and spread to the people and soldiers across the country and international friends around the world.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that in 2024, media agencies, journalists, and reporters have been dedicated and committed to sharing and supporting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in numerous domestic and international diplomatic events, with creative and innovative approaches.
The country’s diplomatic activities have always been fully, accurately, and timely conveyed by Vietnamese media agencies through a wide range of rich and engaging formats. Vietnam's stance and viewpoints on international issues are always promptly and thoroughly reported, helping to affirm the country's sound policies and principles on international and regional matters.
Additionally, the media plays a crucial role in promptly countering and refuting false arguments, defending the ideological foundation of the Party, and safeguarding Vietnam's foreign policy.
Vietnam will celebrate many important national milestones such as the 95th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, the 50th anniversary of the southern liberation and national reunification, and the 80th anniversary of National Day. 2025 will also be a year filled with vibrant bilateral and multilateral diplomatic activities. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son expressed the belief that the press agencies will further enhance the soft power of the nation and strongly spread the image of a country rising, as well as mobilise resources for the country's socio-economic development to connect Vietnam with the world, foster friendship with other nations, and increase the country's stature and influence.

Speaking at the meeting, Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, emphasised that 2025 will be a year with many important diplomatic events for the country. The media will play a positive role in providing international friends with information about Vietnam's achievements in all aspects. He expressed confidence that the Vietnamese revolutionary press will continue to grow strong, amidst the global press industry facing pressures from the development of science and technology.
Sharing that 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, a significant event for the country's press, Minh expressed his hope that, alongside the tireless efforts of the press sector in promoting all aspects of the country, the ministries, departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will continue to accompany, encourage, and closely cooperate with the media agencies, aiming towards the important milestone of the Vietnamese revolutionary press.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals who have made positive contributions and outstanding achievements in foreign information work in 2024.
