At a ceremony on June 8, French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet presented the order to Professor Huy on behalf of the French president.

The order was awarded in recognition of his contributions to the Francophone and medical French community in Thua Thien Hue Province, as well as for his efforts to enhancing understanding, friendship and cooperation with France.

The French diplomat spoke highly of Professor Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy’s career and scientific research, especially his contributions to developing the relationship between Vietnam and France and between the Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and French universities and organisations.

For his part, Professor Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy said he was moved and honoured to receive France’s prestigious decoration, adding that it highlights France’s recognition of the Francophone and medical French community in Vietnam and Thua Thien Hue in particular.

As a member of the medical French community in Hue since the 1990s, Professor Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy has advanced the relationship with many French universities, university hospitals, regions, and non-governmental organisations.

He also promoted the teaching of specialised French, France-Vietnam cultural exchanges, thereby providing young physicians with the opportunity to study in France for at least one year.
