The fair will be held from April 10-13 at the Hanoi International Exhibition Centre with the participation of 450 booths, 60 domestic and foreign tourism promotion agencies, eight airlines, 16 countries and territories and more than 600 businesses.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the theme of the fair demonstrates the high determination and great efforts of the Vietnam Tourism Association and businesses in implementing the green transformation strategy, bringing Vietnam’s tourism industry to new heights.
Over the past years, the tourism industry has always received the attention and close direction of the Party and the State. The issued policies and guidelines have created conditions for the entire industry to gradually recover and develop. Directive No. 08/CT-TTg on February 23, 2024, of the Prime Minister on "comprehensive, rapid and sustainable tourism development in the coming time" has been strongly implemented and achieved many impressive results.
However, the tourism industry still faces many difficulties and challenges. Tourism infrastructure has not been completed. The coordination of relevant parties and the connection between localities are still ineffective. This fact leads to the low competitiveness of the Vietnamese brand on the world tourism map.
According to Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy, the results are not commensurate with the potential, and competitiveness is still low compared to many countries in the region. Therefore, it is necessary to further promote the role of professional social organisations, and gather businesses to work with state-owned management agencies to develop the tourism industry to its full potential, becoming a spearhead economic sector, and making a worthy contribution to the country's development in the new era.
At the fair, meetings between businesses and businesses, businesses and consumers took place. Local tourism promotion agencies, as well as many international tourism promotion agencies, have implemented many promotion programs, introducing destinations, and tourism stimulus packages, along with new tourism technologies and trends.
The forum "Developing green destination, elevating Vietnam's tourism" held on the morning of April 11, is considered the key activity of the fair. At the forum, experts, managers, and business representatives will discuss green destination development to realise initiatives to approach and expand the market for green tourism business models, thus, gradually implementing digital transformation to promote the development of tourism businesses in general and green tourism in particular.
VITM Hanoi 2024 with the theme "Vietnam tourism transforms green for sustainable development" introduced new tourism trends, encouraging service and travel businesses to develop products, tours, and routes responsible for environment preservation. Following this trend, VITM Hanoi 2025 announces and introduces typical green destinations in Vietnam and attractive and diverse green tourism products.
