Secretary Hai made the statement during a meeting with the HWVA on April 29.
He urged the association to enhance unity and its strengths, and take part in fighting against plots of hostile forces and wrongful viewpoints to protect the policies and laws of the Party and the State.
He praised the association’s achievements and stressed that the merits and contributions of generations of Uncle Ho’s soldiers would never be forgotten.
According to HWVA Chairman, Lieutenant General Le Minh Cuoc, the association has developed effectively to become a reliable socio-political organisation with numerous members who used to be high-level army officials. It has contributed to enhancing Party building, protecting socialism and people, maintaining political security and social order at grassroots levels and fighting against corruption and social evils.
Established in 1990, the HWVA now has 251,042 members in 5,645 branches, including 87,083 Party members, 15,246 and 153,823 members who served in the army during wars against French colonialism and American imperialism.
