Entries to the contest, which is hosted by the National Committee on Traffic Safety, include articles posted in newspapers between January 1 and November 15, 2016.

The articles are encouraged to focus on Party’s guideline and State’s laws and policies on ensuring traffic safety, transportation business and management, the control of vehicles’ loading capacity, and the Traffic Safety Year’s theme of ‘Life First”.

Each entrant is eligible to submit no more than five entries no later than November 15, 2016.

One grand prize, two first, five second, ten third and 15 consolation prizes worth VND 110 million in total will be presented to the best entries.

The organising board will also award press agencies with the largest number of submissions.

Addressing the launch, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang spoke highly of the significance of the contest as well as the role played by the media in ensuring traffic safety.

Also at the ceremony, winners of the 2015 contest were honoured with two first prizes going to groups of reporters from the Transport Newspaper and Transport Magazine.

Five second, ten third and 15 consolation prizes were presented to other outstanding press works.

The 2015 contest received 960 entries by journalists from 96 newspapers nationwide.

According to Vice Chairman of the National Safety Traffic Committee Khuat Viet Hung, the entries helped relevant agencies to timely grasp pressing issues in ensuring traffic safety and work out solutions to address problems. They also contributed to raising awareness of organisations, businesses and individuals in following the State’s regulations on transportation.
