Born in 1942 in Thanh Tri district, Hanoi, the comedian Van Hiep graduated from the first actor training course of the Vietnam University of Theater and Cinema with director Doan Hoang Giang, Doan Chau and Trong Khoi.
Over the past 40 years, artist Van Hiep became a familiar face through his acting in over 1,000 roles in a variety of genre including Vietnamese films, comedy and television programmes.
He is most remembered for ‘Ong Gia Hon Nhien’ (Carefree Old Man) and ‘Nguoi Vac Tu Va Hang Tong’ (Village Horn Blower), as well as for his role as the village head in TV series ‘Gap Nhau Cuoi Tuan’ (Weekend Get-together).
Although most of his roles were supporting roles, artist Van Hiep is still remembered by the audience for his acting talent.
